What is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal is an ideal way to obtain smooth, hairless skin without needing to use razors, wax, or plucking. Regeneration Health uses a state-of-the-art laser called the High-Speed LightSheer® Quattro. The High-Speed LightSheer® Quattro reduces treatment time, pain and produces a better result from other laser hair removal options. We gently move the laser over the treatment area, allowing it to send pulses of light into the skin, causing the hair follicle to be blasted with light, stopping the hair follicle from future hair production. After multiple treatments, hair follicles being to vanish, and patients achieve smooth, softer skin.
We have multiple laser heads that are used to treat large areas of skin. The larger laser head gently draws the skin into the handpiece, helping to kill the hair follicle. Patients experience less pain with the larger laser handpiece as the gentle suction calms the nerve endings. Our safe laser treatment is designed to reduce the risk of skin damage, leaving you with hair-free skin!
Frequently Asked Questions
How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?
Laser hair removal uses laser light to target the dark pigment of hair follicles, blasting the hair with intense heat, essentially killing the hair.
How Many Treatments Are Needed to Remove Hair?
Hair is in a different growing phase, requiring multiple laser hair removal treatments to target the hair and eliminate it effectively. Laser light may only work on hair in the growth phase, so we need multiple appointments to target hair in this state as it could be in a resting phase during previous treatments. Depending upon the way your body responds, you should plan on at least four to six treatments.
What Happens if Hair Grows Back?
Laser hair removal is considered permanent when it can remove 80-90% of hair. Some mild growth can occur, but it will be thinner, softer, and lighter. If you receive additional treatment and the hair continues to grow back, we recommend visiting our office to discuss hormone treatments. Hormonal disorders can stimulate hair growth in the hair follicles.
Why Do I Need to Shave Before Treatment?
The laser will target the hair shaft, burning the hair. If the hair is on top of the skin, it can burn the skin. Hair that is not removed before treatment can cause treatment to be less effective.
Does Laser Hair Removal Hurt?
Modern laser hair removal treatments are not nearly as painful as the old methods with gel and topic anesthesia to reduce pain. The vacuum suction of the High-Speed LightSheer® Quattro is designed to minimize irritation and discomfort during treatment. Most patients do not experience pain, but it is common for the skin to have some redness after treatment for a few hours.
How Long Will It Take to See Results?
When the laser carbonizes the hair, it will be shed from the hair follicle in about 2-4 weeks. Each session typically causes about 20-30% of the hair to be eliminated. Once the next phase of resting hair moves to the growth phase, you will come back to our office for your next treatment.
